Losing unbeaten record a bitter pill to swallow for Darby
PENANG: A solitary goal defeat by Negri Sembilan in a Super League match on Sunday shattered Perak's 25-match unbeaten run at home. And it happened in just their first home match of the new season.
Coach Steve Darby said that it was most unfortunate for his team to surrender the proud record.
''The last time we were beaten at home was in the 2006 Malaysia Cup semi-finals match against Perlis,” said the Englishman in a telephone interview from Ipoh yesterday.
“This defeat is made even more painful because it was a match we should not have lost.
“We did not deserve to win either ... we surely deserved a draw but for the post.''
Darby was quick to add that he took nothing away from Negri Sembilan, who he felt not only fully utilise the chance that came their way but also defended well.
''They were both very hardworking and very organised on the night,'' he said.
Zaquan Adha Razak scored the winner for Negri in the 38th minute
